Grip on all types of asphalt
Improved compound solution that enhances chemical grip and adhesive properties in different situations.
Our patented mixing process delivers a more homogeneous compound that met l'accent on chemical properties and results in better resistance to the wear process.
Radial front tires feature a 100% silica compound, capable of offering excellent chemical grip as well as the mechanical grip created by the groove layout.
Radial rear tires feature a two-compound layout where the center band covers approximately 20% of the tire width and the remaining 80% is evenly distributed between the two shoulders.
The center band features a balanced blend of silica and carbon black to improve high-speed stability, heat dispersion and to provide a balance between abrasion resistance and grip.
The 100% silica compound on the shoulders is similar to that of the front tire. Combined with the tread groove design, it delivers excellent grip even on surfaces with a low coefficient of friction.
The use of similar compound on the shoulders at the front and rear offers a consistent contact feel when cornering.
The Cap&Base pattern - featuring a thin layer of central compound extended under the shoulder compound - offers good heat distribution.
All ROADTEC™ 01 radials are coupled with INTERACT™ technology (0° steel belt) Metzeler, contributing to precise steering and high longevity.
All ROADTEC™ 01s with a conventional structure feature a unique carbon black-based compound and a silica percentage close to 30% that harnesses the heat generated by structure to reach the optimum operating temperature and deliver ideal dry grip. Special resins enhance the compound's mobility and adhesive properties for unrivalled wet grip.
Safety in the wet and on low-friction surfaces
On the ROADTEC™ 01, Metzeler has developed a new tread concept capable of improving mechanical traction, with a clearly perceivable benefit during acceleration and braking.
The front tire features a large number of transverse grooves that grip asphalt and improve the amount of water evacuated.
The rear tire is characterized by long and short grooves with opposite orientations and different functions.
During braking, the short grooves prevent lateral movement and increase the bike's stability.
During acceleration, the long grooves improve compound traction, particularly on surfaces with a low coefficient of friction.
The orientation of the grooves also contributes to increased longevity: the design of the grooves and their depth have been immagined to influence a high full/empty ratio and a large amount of rubber in contact with the ground.
At the same time, the orientation of the grooves follows the direction of the wear lines ensuring even tread consumption and enabling the tread to last to the very end of the tire's life.
The shape and layout, apart from being a distinctive feature of the ROADTEC™ 01 tread, greatly contribute to maximizing water evacuation capacity and mechanical friction.
Longevity and consistent performance
The ROADTEC™ 01 boasts 10% more longevity than the ROADTEC™ Z8 INTERACT™. Innovative profiles generate a short, wide contact zone that reduces compound consumption and increases wear consistency.
The ROADTEC™ 01's contact zone is shorter but wider which makes its surface area larger than that of the ROADTEC™ Z8 INTERACT™. This brings two main effects:
- Reduced compound slippage, significantly delaying the rubber wear process.
- Motorcycle weight and acceleration forces are distributed over a wider surface, reducing compound stress and overheating
The contact surface of ROADTEC™ 01 includes a greater amount of grooves and edges in contact with the road, improving mechanical grip, water evacuation and the feeling of safety. It also allows more rubber to be in contact with the ground, especially on medium inclines, enabling the chemical grip to benefit from the start of the incline.
Stability and trajectory precision
ROADTEC™ 01 structures feature more flexible casings (compared to ROADTEC™ Z8 INTERACT™) allowing compound deformation to promote mechanical grip, improve adhesion to asphalt roughness and facilitate absorption of road irregularities.
Metzeler takes advantage of its entire technological portfolio in different applications to offer the best solution to meet product performance objectives and ensure that both radial and X-ply structures are used, coupled with either a diagonal belt or a 0° steel belt with INTERACT™ technology. The structure under each dimension of the ROADTEC™ 01 range is tuned in construction and material to the specific needs of each mount.
