Feel the race, feel the road

Developed to win races on open roads, the RACETEC™ RR delivers maximum performance

Grip in all conditions

Open road racing is characterized by varibal and multiple conditions. The RACETEC™ RR compound specifications have been developed to adapt to all these conditions.
The RACETEC™ RR compound incorporates a selection of polymers and resins with different carbon black contents to maximize hysteresis, even on slippery surfaces.
The RACETEC™ RR front end adapts to the micro-granularity of asphalt delivering more grip and more wear resistance to last longer on severe asphalt. The polymer blend also results in great flexibility at lower temperatures.
Thanks to the versatility of the RACETEC™ RR on a wide range of asphalts and temperatures, the choice of front tire compound should mainly be made according to the rider's preference between better stability and precision on corner entry (K2 version) or better feedback and increased grip feel (K1 version).

As with the rear tire, the choice of rubber is based on the coefficient of friction with the asphalt (high severity/friction and low severity/friction, depending on the circuit or road race) and the temperature of the asphalt (with a threshold around 25/30°C).
The RACETEC™ RR rear double compound clevis and underclevis pattern features a highly conductive band that supports the shoulder compound from below and heats it up on long straights by redistributing the heat generated by the shoulders, keeping them at the optimum temperature and ensuring very good grip when cornering.

Precision and stability at high speeds

The RACETEC™ RR features a structure composite, which differs between the center band and the sides of the carcass in order to respond correctly to different stresses.
Stability is crucial in road racing, especially at full speed in a straight line (due to aerodynamic interference) and when the bike passes over manholes, areas where the road has been renovated or jumps.
In both cases, stability can be temporarily lost as the bike lifts slightly and falls back onto the asphalt, compressing both tires and shock absorbers.
The structure center tread is made from special rayon fiber. This is characterized by a high degree of linear density and stiffness, and is capable of maintaining its shape even under high stress and heavy loads. The fiber attenuates rebond and absorbs shock by distributing it throughout the carcass. It also attenuates the rebond that takes place during the return to the initial shape.
The structure sidewall is designed to be rigid with a low deformation ratio, in order to support the entire architecture when under stress, and guarantee trajectory precision on long, high-speed inclines, as well as on high angle grabs.

Long, consistent performance

Road racing sessions can last over 240 kms, which is more than three times the duration of an average circuit race: longevity, integrity and uniformity of performance are essential to winning.
All RACETEC™ RR compounds feature high abrasion resistance thanks to the homogeneous distribution of components in the polymer matrix, achieved using our proprietary and patented continuous mixing process.
The arrangement of the grooves on the tread minimizes wear and interrupts the forces that crumple the compound, known as nom Schallamach wear waves.
The disruptive angle of the RACETEC™ RR grooves are the result of analyses carried out on open road races.
