- Designed and anatomically shaped specifically for young and younger riders, the all-new SM3 Youth Helmet is optimized for use in MX, Enduro and off-road.
- This lightweight helmet features a thermo-injected shell incorporating a special polymer blend reinforced with varying thicknesses designed to provide the optimal combination of impact protection and lightness. The lightweight outer shell is built from a technologically advanced impact-resistant thermoplastic available in three sizes (Youth Small, Youth Medium and Youth Large). The SM3 Youth weighs 1060g.
- The fit can be adjusted to the rider's head using the helmet's crown and cheek pads, which are available as genuine replacement parts in different thicknesses.
- The Youth Medium and Youth Large sizes share the same EPS size, allowing riders with a YM size to initially purchase a YM helmet and then configure it to a Youth Large size as they grow using the crown and cheek pad replacement parts.
- The Youth Small has a smaller EPS size and can only be adjusted through the cheek pads. In-depth research from Alpinestars has shown that children wearing a YS size are very small, typically aged 3 to 4 years, and therefore require a dedicated helmet fit.
- The multi-density interior lining ensures that the helmet is equipped with the correct density in the right area for improved impact absorption, while also helping reduce overall weight.
- The inner and outer surfaces are designed to minimize the effects of oblique impacts.
- The patented non-slip coating from Alpinestars is applied to the inner part of the main EPS liner to reduce rotational acceleration forces resulting from certain oblique impacts. This layer essentially acts like a sliding plane to mimic the brain's own low-friction cerebrospinal fluid, which is the body's natural defence against oblique impacts.
- The patented visor release system ensures that the visor is released with the correct amount of predetermined force, effectively reducing forces on the rider's neck during an impact.
- The comfort lining is made from recycled materials for a reduced carbon footprint.
- Channels for the hydration tube are integrated into the helmet's cheek pads for added convenience and performance.
- Safety
- Alpinestars has introduced a new internal standard for the SM3 Youth to test the helmet's chin under more demanding conditions than the certification standard, and to meet the new Alpinestars standards, the shell thickness and design structure of the helmet have been optimized in the chin area for superior impact performance.
- Equipped with an emergency release system and removable cheek pads to allow safe and easy removal of the cheek pads while wearing the helmet, while the 3D contoured foam ensures rider comfort.
- The soft textile chin strap measures 25 mm for optimal rider security and comfort.
- Stainless steel D-rings ensure a tight and secure fit.
- Ventilation
- Maximized ventilation and high levels of thermal exchange thanks to 10 vents and seven exhaust ports.
- The visor has been designed to direct air towards the ports for better airflow.
